    Be a subject of a discussion/pose a discussion

'Introduction of legislation allowing same-sex marriage is a subject of a fierce discussion' - is it ok? Or should I say 'poses a discussion'?

No, the original is better. It doesn't 'pose' a discussion.
I would write "is subject to fierce discussion", or ''is a subject of fierce discussion".
No 'a' - there are a lot of discussions, so you can use the uncountable 'discussion'. A subject of debate, of disagreement, etc.

I would use "... is the subject of fierce discussion". (No article before "fierce".)
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

You can say that something poses a problem, but not a discussion.
