It'd be better if you were free the whole week. So you could join me on a wedding d

I'm asking my friend a question:

It'd be better if you were free the whole week. So you could join me on a wedding date.

    VS

It'd be better if you are free the whole week. So you could join me on a wedding date.

    Are both okay?

I would use "were" in the first part. Don't use a full stop. This should all be one sentence. I don't know what a "wedding date" is. Are you inviting your friend to attend someone else's wedding with you?

You're not asking your friend a question.

Yes, asking her to attend someone else's wedding with me.

It would be better if you were free all week so you could come to my friend's wedding with me.
It would be better if you were free all week so you could accompany me to a wedding.
It would be better if you were free all week so you could attend a wedding with me.

It seems odd that someone needs to be free for an entire week in order to go to a wedding. Surely they just need that day free.

Maybe the wedding is being held in the depths of the Amazon jungle, and they're chartering a light plane.

In some cultures, they can last for a few days.
