    reading large numbers

    Hello,

    I was working on numbers and found this in an old esl textbook

    four hundred and thirty point six billion transcribed as 430,600,000,000

    Is it correct?

    Thank you for your response. I thought that "point" was used before decimals (ex. 15,730.4 fifteen thousand seven hundred and thirty point four.) It doesn't seem to be the case here.

    Yes, but 1,500 is "One point five thousand", and it's also "One thousand, five hundred [point zero].
    In the first case, you're expressing it in thousands, and in the second, in units.
    It's also 0.0015 million. "Zero point zero zero one five million". So it is used before decimals, but that depends on what units you are using.
