    Number of units

    Hi guys.

    Please check.

"Number of units do not match" or "Number of units doesn't match"?

Once again, Tufguy, be reminded that context counts for a great deal. Please provide some.

    Re: Number of units

The sentence is pretty meaningless as it stands. It should probably be the number and the verb should be singular.

    Re: Number of units

I heard it on the insurance ivr "Number of units doesn't match date span". So I am confused should we use "Do" here because of "Units" or "Does" because of "Number"?

I refer you to the answer I gave earlier:

    the verb should be singular
If it should be singular, then what does it refer to?

    Re: Number of units

Ivr means interactive voice response. So do we need to consider "Number" or "Units" in order to use "Do" or "Does". I think we should use "Does" because number is singular?

    Re: Number of units

As the verb is singular (does),it must refer to number, as units is plural.
