    Should you say...

1.) Should you say, "Both of them went to ... ." or "THE both of them went to ... ." ?

2.) Can you begin a sentence with "But" or "And" ?

3.) Should you only use "between" when writing/speaking about 2 objects and "among" with 3 or more?

    Re: Should you say...

Hi - fluidity - and welcome to Using English.

Next time, please ask unrelated questions in different threads.

    1) Usually just "both."
    2) Yes, but not in formal writing.
    3) This is more complicated. If you're talking about location, it's probably better to use "among" for three or more. If the relationship is equal between all parties, 'between' works.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

    Re: Should you say...

Fluidity, please note that it's not necessary to write a new post to say "Thank you". A new post is only required if you want to ask a follow-up question or to provide supplementary information.
Simply click on the "Thank" button in the bottom left-hand corner of any post you find helpful. It saves time for all of us.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
