High yield resource for learning vivid words/idioms?

I am in the process of improving my talking skills.
Are there any high yield resources for learning vivid verbs/adjectives/adverbs and idioms?
    Thank you for any recommendation!

Re: High yield resource for learning vivid words/idioms?

My honest advice is to use such vivid terms sparingly- people who have been using a Thesaurus and load up their language with words they think are colourful and descriptive are often doing themselves no good at all and making their language harder to understand.
