    Dear teachers,

    In the sentence below, ",which are individual empirically testable conjectures..." is used to describe "hypotheses" or "scientific theories"? Please help me understand. Thank you.

    "Scientific theories are distinguished from hypotheses, which are individual empirically testable conjectures, and scientific laws, which are descriptive accounts of how nature will behave under certain conditions."

    Hypotheses- if you look at the second example, which is similar, the relative clause refers to scientific laws.
