    in the best possible light

40 Not only do you want to come across in the best possible light- to be seen as professional, courteous, and ready to help- but doing so puts the other person at ease and readies her to participate in a constructive, enjoyable conversation.

What doe this "light" mean here? condition or situation or tone?

Re: in the best possible light

It means overall appearance, the impression you are giving to others. To present yourself in the best possible light means that you are putting your best foot forward, you are being as professional and polite as possible.
