    Meaning of "STAKE"

    Hi,

Can anyone help me with the meaning of "steaks" in the following sentence:

"In other words, melodrama is about recognition and clarification, how to be clear what the
stakes are and what their representative signs mean, and how to face them."

Could you please tell me what exactly "stakes" means here? :)

    Regards,
    Mehrdad

    Re: Meaning of "STAKE"

"...what the stakes are ..." also relates to the risks for the loser.
Eg. "Are you sure you want to do this? Do you understand what the stakes are". It means consequences of any kind.
