saved money for a smuggler to...

    Are these sentences correct:

1-He saved for a smuggler to smuggle him across the border.

2-He saved money for a smuggler to smuggle him across the border.

He saved money to give it to a smuggler to smuggle him across the border.

I think they are grammatically correct, but might be a bit unclear. We can't tell if he was saving for a specific smuggler or not, but that does not seem to be the issue.

    Gratefully,
    Navi.

Yes they are grammatically correct, but as you say, a little unclear.

Perhaps something like: He saved his money so that he could afford to pay a smuggler to bring him across the border.... (?)

    Just a suggestion.

    I hope this helps!
