    Usage of with

Around this time he also joined an artists ' group with a great enthusiasm for nineteenth-century Russian literature, with Dostoevsky a particular favorite.

Please give me some explanations and examples of this usage of with, I cannot understand this meaning very well.

    Thanks!

    Re: Usage of with

Just omit the second "with". It contributes nothing to the meaning and is sloppy usage in my opinion.

Around this time he also joined an artists' group with a great enthusiasm for nineteenth-century Russian literature, particularly Dostoevsky.

    Re: Usage of with

It doesn't sound that sloppy to me- maybe it's a BrE difference. It does have the meaning Probus gives it.
