    past continuous tense

    Dear all,

The following extract is taken from a language course where the book calls the clause 'several pages were missing' an example of past continuous. To me the word 'missing' sounds as an adjective. Could anyone possibly comment?

'When another use took out a book after Mr. Beck, he noticed that something was wrong - several pages were missing.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: past continuous tense

'The babies sobbed pitifully because they were missing their teddies' is an example of the past continuous tense.
