    Day would keep its trust?

    "If I could stay
Then the night would give you up
Stay and the day would keep its trust
Stay and the night would be enough"

    Hi,
those are the lyrics from Stay, U2, and I can't understand what "would give you up" means...
Also, I know that asking 2 questions is not a good idea, but would it be alright if I ask what "would keep its trust" means also?
I think does are poetic but...can't guess.

Re: Day would keep its trust?

It is erotic poetry. "Would give you up" means that nightfall would cause you to surrender to me. And therefore the promise of the preceding day would be fulfilled: "the day would keep its trust."

Sorry, I don't understand. Could you say in more detail? So it means...he was waiting for "you" during the day and at night he had a time with "you"?
