    fo retelling

    In the classroom the teacher says to the students: "This text is for retelling"- Can we say that? What is the alternative to say the same?

    Obviously, somebody said it. I guess you could say:

    Tell/explain this to somebody else.

    No, but 'relate' might be appropriate.
