    Is this a correct sentence and meaningful in English?

    the B.Sc. thesis opened an avenue of research to me.

    In my SOP I want to mention that
    B.Sc. thesis introduced me to researching, but in more beautiful context.

    The first word of the sentence should be capitalized, but other than that it is fine.
