Exclamation Common Core State Standards - Could be good for ESL?

If someone can guide me here I would be grateful.

In addition to listening and speaking activities to learn English. Is it worth (not wasting time) to study English Literature according to Common Core State Standards of English Language Arts? As good material for reading and writing for ex. Grad 7- 12 Literature books.
