    He who can't marry.

    Hi.I didn't unserstand why 'who' was used in this sentence.Can you please explain?

    He who can't marry. What does 'who' refer? Does 'He can't marry' has same meaning with 'He who can't marry'?

    "He" is used to refer to a group. The clause "who can't marry" is a relative clause modifying/describing the subject "he". This could be rephrased as "Those people who cannot marry..." or "Any person who cannot marry..."



    The style is somewhat archaic or legalistic.
