    Obviously, this writer is "shooting from the hip". I attended school in a one-room building and for anyone to think that "#1 and #2 came from that educational environment is out to lunch. If the writer has a better answer from where the expressions come from and can prove it, please state it now. Otherwise, please don't make your unfounded remarks.

    The timing of the expressions and the development of short and long flush toilets does not work. Not to mention the #1 and #2 expressions were common during and before my childhood. It appears that you have swallowed folk etymology.
