    Adulthood beckons

What does the short phrase "Adulthood beckons" really mean?

Does it mean A. The child is growing up? B. The child has grown up? or C. The child has come of age? Thank you so much.

    Re: Adulthood beckons

For me, it means the child is growing up, but has not yet reached adulthood.

    Re: Adulthood beckons

It may mean the child is approaching adulthood and is being tempted by the attractions of adulthood e.g. driving, staying out late, smoking, drinking alcohol, being sexually active, etc
