Hi, everyone!

Just wanted to know if it's OK to say "He completed the degree of a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications". Is it a major mistake to use the article "a" in this case? Thank you in advance.

I'd just call it a mistake — not a horrendous or life-changing one.

You could say 'He is now a Bachelor of Arts ...'

Rover_KE,

so am I better off saying "degree of Bachelor of Arts" (without "a")?

I am not a teacher.

I would probably put Bachelor of Arts, or simply BA, before 'degree', and use the indefinite article or possessive.

'He completed a/his BA degree in Mass Communications".

I wouldn't use "degree" at all.

He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication.

If you absolutely must use "degree" then I would say "He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication".

Note that "Cooomunications" is a misspelling.

Indeed, I have a BS in Communications.
My degree is in Communications.
My degree is a BS in Communications.
I hold a BS in Communications.
I have a BS degree in Communications.

I would never say it the way you wrote it initially.

What is a BS? Not a BA?

Bachelor of Science, not Bachelor of Arts
