    I have experienced/encountered turbulence on a flight.

    'Used to' means you do not experience it anymore. Turbulence on a flight is common.

    If "turbulene" is a drug, then use "I used to take turbulene when I was on a flight."

    It appears I misunderstood the word "turbulene".
