    I am loving you.

Hi.I have read a lyric today and I saw this sentence:

    I'm loving you.

'Love' is a state verb and it doesn't take 'ing'. Can you please explain this?

    Re: I am loving you.

    I am not a teacher.

Anything and everything is possible in song lyrics. They are not a grammar reference.

Also, 'love' in all its forms is very often used in songs to mean the act of making love. So, 'I'm loving you' could be what the person is doing right now.

    Hello, Ercantuncer:

I do not know your first language, but I am guessing that there are exceptions to the rules of your language, too. Am I right?

Well, native speakers (at least here in the United States) have no trouble using the progressive sometimes with stative verbs.

You have probably heard of McDonald's [the hamburger chain of restaurants] famous slogan: I'm lovin' [loving] it.

My books tell me that the stative -ing is often used when the idea is "MORE and MORE":

Mona: Do you still work with James?

    Raul: Yes, I do.

Mona: You told me that you did not like him. He seemed so strange.

Raul: Well, actually, now that I have come to know him, I find that I am liking him a lot. (That is, with each passing day, my "liking" for him grows.)

Many of us older people might say: "There are some things that I am not understanding about today's young people." Here is what a businessman was quoted as saying: "We're understanding that we are in a tough economic environment and we have to innovate and invest." (Los Angeles Times, July 2, 2008).
