    The article

Doing different exercises I chanced upon a short text.. And, to be honest, I got so confused.
The first sentence of the text was :
    'Swimming is great exercise'
Could you explain me why the author didn't put the indefinite article?

'I know this from personal experience.'
What about this sentence? Is there any mistake ? As for me, I would rather say, '.. from my personal experience'.

    Welcome to the forum.

In the first sentence, "exercise" has been used uncountably, as the generic term for activities which exercise the body (or mind).

"My personal experience" is tautologous. If you say "I" and "personal", you are clearly talking about yourself. The subject is all that's needed.

I know this from personal experience.
He knows this from personal experience.
They know this from personal experience.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Additionally, DolphinO, there is no need to quote our replies back to us.

As good as ems's reply was, we don't need to read it all again.
