Is "dare" as a modal verb used in the present tense negative only?
He daren't tell her what has happened.
Can I also use "dare" and "not" separately?
A Word A Day:
You should use "dare" and "not" separately. "Daren't" is not a word in common use. I've never heard it or said it.
It's relatively common on BrE. I would be more likely to say "I daren't do that" than "I dare not do that".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
