Question What does "commissioning" mean in these two sentences?

    1. AlarmCalm Buttons are loop-powered and can be placed at any required address on the loop. This makes installation quick and simple with simple configuration of FAM occurring at commissioning.

    2. Advanced's loop device approach make for better system performance and flexibility, more cost effective and simple installation and faster commissioning.

Could anyone please help explaining it? Many thanks in advance!

Re: What does "commissioning" mean in these two sentences?

    'commission
to make or become operative or operable'── quoted from http://www.thefreedictionary.com/commission
Does this definition fit the OP's sentences?

    Not a teacher.

"Commissioning" is the activity that takes place to install and test new equipment in a plant, like a refinery. It is all of the verification and initial start of the equipment.
