    pronunciation of the letters 'er'

    In American English, is the pronunciation of the letters 'er' in the word 'verb' the same as that of the letters 'er' in the word 'teacher'?

    I agree with Dave. The only difference is that "verb", as a one-syllable word, has the stress on the entire word, while with "teacher" the stress is on the first syllable.
