:-DHi everyone,

I would like to know the difference of "at first" , "at the first time" and "for the first time."

Here are the examples;

a). She was lonely because she had few friends at first.
b). She was lonely because she had few friends at the first time.
c). She was lonely because she had few friends for the first time.

They seem all right to me.

Thanks for your time.

Re: What are the differences ???? at first, at the first time, for the first time

"At first" works there but I would move it to a different part of the sentence.

She was lonely at first because she had few friends.

Neither "at the first time" nor "for the first time" work. The first is completely unnatural and the second has a completely different meaning.
