    Did you see any monkey/monkeys?

    Hello,

Should I ask "When you were in the zoo, did you see any monkey/monkeys?" I've always had this question.

    Thanks.

Re: Did you see any monkey/monkeys?

Use "monkeys". The rest of your question is grammatically correct, although in BrE, we use "When you were at the zoo, ...".

When using "any", use the singular with uncountable nouns (Do you have any water?) and the plural with countable nouns (Do you have any biscuits?"
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

Hi thanks for your kind help! It indeed is helpful. I just am curious if I could say both sentenses below:

"Is there anyone in his office"
"Are there (any) people in his office"

In the case, "people" is a countable word just like "monkey".

    Thanks.
