    In any contingency

    Hello,

Do I understand correctly the phrase "negative + in any contengency" is a variation to "on no account"? The sentence is:

"I am not to know the friend, for I must never appeal to him or mention him in any contingency"

Leonard Cline, The Dark Chamber, 1927.

    Thanks

    It means "under any circumstances".
