Another question on the use of "the" in combination with industry when used in a list

    Hello,
It might have already been posted, however my search did not yield a useful result concerning my question:

Which one of the following two options is more correct or better when used in a listing
    - projects with the dairy industry in ...or: - projects with dairy industry in ....

Can both expressions be used in a list (without more detailed information) and what would be the difference between them? Or is it different in American and British English?
I just wanted to mention dairy industry as a general description and as opposed to university or academia.
Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Normally, "the" would be needed before "dairy". There could be an exception in a title or a headline. Your case is not clear.

Re: Another question on the use of "the" in combination with industry when used in a

    Thank you MikeNewYork and SoothingDave,

    Sorry for my unclear case:
I wanted to list some of our activities
in an itemised list without giving a complete phrase:
Dairy industry was just an example, you could imagine as well car industry, oil& gas industry or food industry. To mention two examples. I just added the "we" in parentheses just to complete the sentence.

    - (we) worked with gas & oil industry and with national universities
    - (we) obtained funding for projects and collaborations with food industry and international organisations
    - (they) work in food industry, not in academia

Do I need to put a "the" before gas & oil industry or before food industry?
I just wanted to use them as a general term, because I don't like to mention the several specific companies of these branches with which we worked. I know that dairy, food or car... are more specifying, but I believe to have heard these kind of terms as "umbrella" terms without article. What is correct? I'd like to know whether and if yes, for which cases I can omit the article "the"?
I hope to have expressed myself clearly ?
    Thanks in advance

In that use, I would tend to skip the articles.
