Hi there

I have a hard time understanding this sentence below.
"I did try smoking pot one time, it was from a cheerful yellow and white pipe named Colonel Mustard, which definitely doesn’t count."

I know "Colonel Mustard" is a character from the game, Cluedo.
I don't understand why it doesn't count when you smoke pot from a pipe named Colonel Mustard?
Is it a metaphor or something?

Help, please.
Thanks.

I'd guess that the person smoked pot once, but didn't feel that they had done it properly. The Cluedo references don't make much sense to me, but maybe it was a meerschaum pipe.

In the US, the game is called "Clue".

I'm guessing, after reading the quote in context, that the writer was saying that smoking marijuana from a pipe fashioned to look like a board game character negated the "badness" of smoking the devil's weed. It's a rather nerdy way of smoking dope, as opposed to using a tie-dyed colored bong decorated with pictures of Jerry Garcia. :)

It was Colonel Mustard in the hall with a pipe. ;-)

Are you sure it wasn't a bong, Mike?

There's no bong in the US version of Clue. At least not yet.
