    replies to the threads

Hello! I'm a new member and I have some doubts about the replies given to the threads. I thought I would receive an email informing me that someone else has answered to my thread, with the link to the site. Doesn't it work like this? Or am I supposed to go back to the home page, log in and so on...? Thank you for your precious advice!!!

    Re: replies to the threads

You shouldn't have to keep logging in unless you're logging out every time you close the website or if you haven't told it to remember your details. To find any post you have taken part in, click on Quick Links, then Subscribed Threads. That will show you every thread you have started or taken part in in any way. Anything in bold has had new responses since the last time you looked at it..
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: replies to the threads

You will receive those emails if you "ask" the site to send them to you. Otherwise, you won't. (I click on "Settings" and then I "see" all the threads that I have subscribed to that have responses. Often it is more than a dozen. (Yes, I'm pretty busy here.))

"You shouldn't have to keep logging in unless you're logging out every time you close the website".

On a related note, I think that may be how privileged users see the site, but only privileged users. Even after logging in, I get automatically logged out if I post nothing for five minutes or so.

When you sign in, click the Remember Me box- it will keep you from being logged out automatically. If you click this, a cookie is placed on your computer that will remember you, but which will be deleted when you log out. It is not set as default for security and privacy reasons.

I use a cookie system that protects certain cookies, including forum ones, and I never have to log in- when I open the forum, I am automatically logged in. However, you have to choose that as browsers are about protecting users from intrusion nowadays.
