partook in creating / in the creation of

    Dear teachers,

Could anyone please explain me what is the difference, if any, between using a noun and a gerund in the sentences below? Is there any difference in meaning?

She partook in the creation of the website.

She partook in creating the website.

    Thanks a lot for explanation.

No difference. Personally, I would have chosen "participated" instead of partook, but "partook" is not wrong.

I would have used either "participated", "took part in" or even "helped with". As Mike said, "partook" isn't wrong but it is somewhat dated (in BrE) and sounds odd in this sentence.

I'll have to take your word for that. I imagine a lot of the language used in church is not the same as you would hear in the street.

'Partake' is mostly used in the context of consuming food and drink.
