others as greater now than before=?

Vilks told CNN he saw the threat against himself and others as greater now than before.

The sentence was in red that I don't understand.

I tried to understand that the sentence means the threat is important now than before?

May I take 'greater' to mean 'more serious' in this context?

If a threat is bigger, it is more serious.
