    USA watches are ahead

If its 8 am in USA and its 5am(just suppose this). Can we say "USA watches are 3 hours ahead of Indian watches" or "Indian watches are 3 hours behind the USA watches"?.

    Re: USA watches are ahead

I would just say that the US is three hours ahead of India or India is three behind the US.

    Re: USA watches are ahead

The USA has six different time zones, so if New York may be three hours ahead of India, California would be six hours ahead.

And that would put India somewhere in the North Atlantic under Greenland, wouldn't it?

Well, when it's noon in New York City (Eastern Time Zone), it's 10:30PM in Mumbai.

    Re: USA watches are ahead

I have always found it odd that some countries are set on the half-hour.
