    Please tell me which one of these is correct and why.

    Maximum number of people can accommodate in this room are 20.
    Maximum number of people can accommodate in this room is 20.

    Neither is correct.

    The maximum number of people that can be accommodated in this room is 20.

    The following versions are more natural:

    The maximum number of people this room can hold is 20.
    This room can hold a maximum of 20 people.
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    'This room can accommodate 20 people' already suggests that 20 is the maximum.
    Am I right or wrong?

    It's a little ambiguous, in my opinion. You could probably squeeze one or two more in, especially if they were really small! If you need to be absolutely clear then using "maximum" somewhere is necessary.
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
