It is not my homework.
As far as I know, "It's high time" is a special phrase that is used to indicate something that should have been done but in a actual it has not been done. Also I came to know that this phrase is always used with v2.
Now a in a general sentence of indirect narration using reporting verb of past tense, we change simple past into past perfect.
Direct:- He said to me,"I met Jack."
Indirect:- He told me/said to me that he had met Jack.
Now please tell me that if the same changes applies in "It's high time" phrase too or there is some change.
I think that "It's high time" phrase uses v2 so we should not convert into past perfect.
Am I right?
Direct narration:-I said to Jack,"It's high time I left for office."
which out of the following will be the correct indirect narration of the sentence given above ?
1:-I said to/told jack that it is high time I left for office.
2:-I said to/told jack that it was high time I left for office.
3:-I said to/told jack that it was high time I had left for office.
Thank you in advance.
2:-I said to/told Jack that it was high time I left for the office.
