    Sentence and grammar corrections

A told B that he lost his book and he advised him to look for it in his desk.

In the above sentence A lost the book. But it looks like A is asking B to look for it.
It should have been like B is advising A where to look for it.

    I corrected the sentence to:

When A lost his book, he told B, who advised him to look for it in his desk.

    Is the corrected sentence okay?

star, please note that a better title would have been A told B that he lost his book.

There's still some potential ambiguity about whose desk A is to look in, ie. to whom the 'his' refers. But in reality, B would have said, "Look for it in my/your desk."
