    Hi all,

I just received this message from my boss, can anyone helps to explain what does it means?

"We have no room for rookie school on this one"

It means nothing to me. Is your boss a native English speaker?

    Yes.
I just want to know what does "no room for rookie school" means.

    His complete statement as follows:

"I have no problem using the facility as long as all our standard procedures are used to ensure a quality job with proper supervision.

We have no room for rookie school on this one."

Actually I'm asking his permission to allow us to use the new facility for a new project...

Do you know what a "rookie" is?

He doesn't want to spend any time teaching or correcting you in this new facility. If you can follow procedures, there should be no problem. If you are a source of trouble, he won't be happy.

    ***** NOT A TEACHER *****

SoothingDave has already given you the answer. I have made up this dialogue:

Doctor Smith: I'm very sorry, but you need a major operation.

James: Can you recommend a surgeon?

Doctor Smith: Yes, I can. My friend John Doe has just graduated from medical school.

James: Thank you, sir. But this is no time for a rookie. I need a surgeon with experience.
