    Smile as to anyone so utterly engaged

    Hello. Would you please tell me what the underlined part means in the context below?
    These sentences are from the introduction of the children's book, <Jim's Lion> by Russel Hoban.
    Could it mean by "as to any reader who is into this story"?
    Please help. Thank you.

    ----------
    Jim's lion
    is an extraordinary and life-affirming story. Read and explore this book;
    let the power of Russel and Alexis(illustrator) take you where it will.
    To Jim, as to anyone so utterly engaged, Jim's Lion is a revelation.
