I want to voice my objection without sounding offensive. I was thinking something along the lines of:
It hit me as an especially unwise idea that the council is planning to host the 2017 Olympics here in *country name*. Such a poorly thought out scheme could have various adverse repercussions ranging from *something* to*something*
Please help, thank you!
Politicians are supposed to represent us. If we think something they have done is unwise or poorly thought-out, we should tell them. Nothing changes if we don't challenge their actions or deeds.
Is this a real letter? As far as I am aware, no Olympics will be held anywhere in 2017. They are always in even-numbered years. They were in 2012 (London) and will happen again in 2016 (Rio de Janeiro). I don't understand who your letter is addressed to. What is this "council" to which you refer? The location of the Olympics is decided by the International Olympic Committee (the IOC).
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
