2. I would use "making mistakes". For the second, you could use "has" "a sleep deficit".

Can you help me with these questions?
1. I thought I (have/had) classes today. <-- Should I use have or had if I don't have class today actually?
2. One is prone to (errors/ making mistakes/ make mistakes) when s/he (has/ is under) sleep deficit. <-- Is this sentence correct? Or should I rewrite it?
