I came across the abreviation/acronym "NB" used before a sentence which the writer wants to stress out. What does it stand for? When and where in a piece of writing should it be used properly?

    Thanks, Ewelina

    Re: Nb

NB = nota bene (Note well, pay close attention) It is used to highlight the focus of the reader to something essential, so should only be used sparingly when the writer really must choose the importance for the reader. If it is used a lot, then it loses all effect.
