"Swindler" is good. "Conman" and "Con artist" are also good.

Tzfujimino, please don't simply provide a link without actually giving the word you are suggesting in the post. Not everyone likes to click on links and it takes extra time. Instead of writing the word "this", you could have written the word you were suggesting and then turned that into the hyperlink instead. That way, everyone would have known what you were talking about.

That's OK, not a huge problem. Would you like to tell me what word you suggested? :-D

I'm relieved to hear that.:)
I suggested 'a swindler'.

I rather like the "solution" which went round the net a while ago for dealing with such calls or even similar emails. To waste the caller's time as much as possible, keep them on the line discussing the issue and then give them a completely fictitious credit card number and expiry date. Most of them don't try to put the card through while you're on the phone - they take all the details down and then try to access the account later. I've done this with every scam artist who has phoned me (I don't tend to do it by email because that involves hitting "Reply" which tells them it's a valid email address). I like to imagine them later that day sitting at their terminal trying to get my credit card to go through and constantly being told there's something wrong with the information. The more time they waste doing that, the less time they have to call and scam other people.

My preferred solution is to not answer the phone.
