    Editing/Proof Reading

I am looking for someone to edit/proof read a list of facts. The facts are very basic but I want to have another person proof read and edit them when necessary. I am willing to pay.

    Thanks

    Pat

    Re: Editing/Proof Reading

If it's not a very long list, why don't you post it here?

    Re: Editing/Proof Reading

Its a little too long to list. Plus, I put a lot of work into it and don't want anyone to steal them.

    Re: Editing/Proof Reading

I do private proofreading and editing. However, as I'm sure you know, we cannot post email addresses on the forum and you have not been a member long enough or made enough posts to use the Private Message facility. Once you have made 10 posts and can PM, feel free to send me a PM about this. Note that I am a BrE native speaker but I am familiar with AmE spelling etc. There might be a difference in editing style though.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: Editing/Proof Reading

    1. There are 5,000 species of sponges.
    2. Clams can live a really really long time.
    3. Orcas are the top predators in the worldwide ocean.

How do you proofread a list of facts?

    Check for grammar and spelling?

    Re: Editing/Proof Reading

Yes, that's what proofreading is. Editing involves changing the style and structure of the sentences and paragraphs if you deem it fit.

For example, if I were proofreading your post, I would do this:

    1. There are 5000 species of sponge.
    2. Clams can live a really, really long time.
    3. Orcas are the top predators in the oceans.

If I were editing, I might do the following:

    1. There are 5000 species of sponge.
    2. Clams can live an extremely long time.
    3. Orcas are the most successful ocean predators.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: Editing/Proof Reading

You had better take emsr2d2. I have never actually gotten paid to proofread anything. As for pattyg06, you only need one more post to make it to 10, so go for it.

    Re: Editing/Proof Reading

I never proofread anything unless somebody asks me to.
