    What special today!

Someone wants to give me a sweet for his birth day or some achievements (without informing to me)

What should I ask him after picking a sweet from sweet box? I want to know what for he is giving sweet?

Thank you,What special today! (Is it correct?),Please suggest.

No. "What special today?" is not grammatical.
