Someone want to give me a sweet for his birth day or some achievements (without informing to me)

What should I ask him after picking a sweet from sweet box?

Thank you,What special today! (Is it correct?),Please suggest.

    Re: What special today!

Ordinarily, you wouldn't ask someone for the reason they're offering you sweets. However, you could ask:
"Is this for a special occasion?"
