Hi,

Am I correct to think the sentence I have come to pray your grace means something like I have come to apologize for something/pray for forgiveness?

Leonard Cline, The Dark Chamber, 1927

Thanks for help

The context is:

"Miriam, what do you mean? I would not write such a letter, I did not come to accuse you of anything, I came to pray your grace! Beloved, do not think I believe the ravings of a lunatic. Are you angry. I would defend you with my life ..."
