Is the " for" here used as a preposition or as a conjuction?

Please look at the sentences below.
"Every hour of our times has a value. For every hour we work at one job we could easily be doing another, or be sleeping or watching a film. "
What puzzles me about the second sentence above is that I couldn't figure out whether the "for" here is used as a prepositon or as a conjuction. If it is used as preposition, then what serves as the counjunction linking "we work at one job" and "we could be easily be doing ....". If not ,it must be used as a conjuction linking the sentence "Every hour of our times..." and the sentence "every hour we work ...". But my question remains.what serves as the conjunction in the second sentence.Could it be "every hour"? So,please help me. Any reply will be appreciated. Thank you all.

"For" is a conjunction there. It means "because" or "since".
