If you make the last part a quote, it works.
I got free movie tickets so I thought "I will go and see a movie".
Otherwise, it doesn't work and you need to change "will" to "would".

Is there in any circumstance where thought can be followed by a present tense verb:
I got free movie passes, so I thought I will go see a movie.
Under any circumstances?

Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
I would not call "I will go" present tense. For me it is future tense. Some disagree that English has a future tense, but I am not one of them.

The thought of eating raw meat disgusts me.
It's the thought that counts.![]()
I can't think of a sentence with verb 'thought' being followed by the present tense, unless you're quoting.
"I thought, 'I'm still young. I can start over.'"
Those are cute, teechar, but they are not verbs.
